Buttock Augmentation Guide: Brazilian Butt Lift vs. Implants vs. Silicone Injections

If you are unhappy with the way your backside looks, you may be considering a butt augmentation procedure to improve the look of it. There are a few different choices that you have when it comes to the actual procedure used. In this article, we will discuss the differences between a Brazilian butt lift, implants, and silicone injections.

Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian butt lift procedure is one of the most popular options and is chosen by a lot of women. The procedure is performed by removing fat from areas of the body such as the thighs and stomach and inserting that fat into the buttocks. The result is a plump and natural looking butt.

The reason many people choose this option is because it is the more natural option as you are using your own fat deposits. This typically means that your body will not reject it and recovery time is not as long.

When selecting this butt augmentation it is important that you choose an experienced plastic surgeon who knows how to properly transfer the fat cells. If the cells are damaged during the extraction phase, your body will flush out and reject the fat.

Butt Implants

Butt implants are similar to breast implants and achieve similar results. Silicone implants are inserted into the buttocks to create a full and round appearance. Implants are typically used when a patient opts-in to have them used or when the patient does not have enough fat to be extracted from another area of the body.

The positives to butt implants is that they can provide patients with a nice, plump bottom and help improve the patient’s overall self-esteem.

There are some downsides to butt implants, especially the fact that complication rates are higher than for a Brazilian Butt Lift. Sometimes, when trauma occurs to the buttock region, the implants can shift in place, which can make the butt cheek look awkward. In addition, there may be other complications such as your body rejecting the silicone, infection and / or bleeding.

Silicone Injections

Silicone butt injections are hardly ever recommended. Silicone injections are performed by injecting a silicone substance into the buttocks.

The problem is, many of the silicone substances used have not been approved by Health Canada and when injected into the buttocks, they very often have long-term adverse effects. Many patients complain about further problems after receiving silicone injections such as severe swelling, infections and drainage of pus, scarring, and results that are nowhere near ideal.

At Edelstein Cosmetic, we strongly advise against having free silicone injected into your buttocks.

If you plan to have a butt augmentation performed, know your options, study them, and then make an informed decision based on the results.
