Fat Grafting For Butt Augmentation

Butt augmentation procedures have risen in popularity and many women who would like to have a plump and round bottom are seeking out skilled plastic surgeons to do the job. One of the most common types of butt augmentation procedures uses a process of fat grafting to provide the desired results. Below, we will go over just what fat grafting is and what you can expect.

What Is Fat Grafting?

Fat grafting is a procedure that takes fat from one area of the body and places it into another area of the body. For example, fat can be taken from your stomach or your thighs and placed into your buttocks.

This type of a procedure is considered safe because patients are using their own fat cells for the procedure, which also means the cells will not be rejected by the body.

How Is Fat Grafting Performed?

The fat grafting procedure first starts by extracting fat cells from the body and this is accomplished through liposuction. Before the liposuction is performed, your plastic surgeon will determine what areas he or she wants to remove the fat from. Often, patients will have fat removed from a few different spots to ensure that the fat cells remain intact and are not damaged.

Typically, plastic surgeons recommend that a woman is above a size six or weighs 20 to 30 pounds more than they would like, as this helps ensure there is enough fat to perform the procedure.

Liposuction can be performed anywhere on the body, but is usually performed on the stomach, thighs, waist, or arms. Once ready, your plastic surgeon will create a small incision and insert the liposuction tube into the incision. The fat will then be extracted from the desired area.

Once the cells are removed, they are then processed and purified using a process called centrifugation and decanting. Centrifugation means the fat is spun, separating the fat from blood and other liquids.  Decanting means you remove the blood and other liquids, leaving behind almost pure fat.  Only a portion of the cells extracted can be used and injected into your buttocks.

After the cells are purified, they will then be injected into your buttocks through small injections made around the buttocks area. The injections are usually placed into the buttocks at different levels to ensure the best fat placement and results.

Considerations for Butt Augmentation

When it comes to the butt augmentation procedure, you need to make sure that you work with a highly trained and experienced plastic surgeon as the fat cells cannot be damaged. When the cells are improperly handled or purified, they become damaged and when inserted into your buttocks, they are simply absorbed and flushed out from the body, which means your results will not last.

When you speak with a potential plastic surgeon, make sure to ask them about previous butt augmentation procedures and find out if any of those procedures were unsuccessful and why.
