Breast Implant Projection

Breast implant projection, also known as breast implant profile, refers to the amount of forward projection an implant offers when sitting against your chest wall. If you were to lie an implant flat on a table, you would be able to see the amount of projection by how tall the implant is.

There are several types of profiles, ranging from low to high projection. An implant with a lower profile generally has a wider base width so it lies flatter against your chest, while a higher profile will have a narrower base width so that it can project further from your chest.

If you were to take one high profile implant and compare it to a moderate profile implant with the same volume (measured in CCs), the high profile implant would be far smaller in circumference but taller in height.BREAST IMPLANT PROFILES

WHICH BREAST IMPLANT PROJECTION IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Your pre-surgery measurements, including your breast width and height, as well as your desired results, will help you and your surgeon determine the most suitable implant profile for your body. The following are some factors that may be considered when choosing a profile:

• If you would like to have more upper pole fullness, then a higher profile may be more suitable in achieving your expectations.
• Implants with a higher profile tend to better address mild to moderate sagging as well, possibly making breast lift surgery unnecessary.
• If you have a wider chest and want a more natural-looking breast slope, then a lower profile may be more suitable.
• To enhance volume on the sides of the breasts (aka “side boob”), a lower profile may be preferable.
