Essential Supplies To Have Before & After Your Breast Augmentation in Toronto

So, you finally went for it and planned your breast augmentation in Toronto. No doubt as the big day approaches, you’re equal parts nervous and excited! Planning ahead can be a double-edged sword because sometimes it’s tempting to overthink every detail and second guess your preparedness. On the other hand, having all your questions answered and prepping with assistance can alleviate anxiety. At Edelstein Cosmetic, we think a simple checklist to prepare ahead of time can help you relax in the days leading up to surgery.

Breast augmentation in Toronto: Do this to make recovery smooth!

Prep Your Space

Are you the type who can’t recline on your couch without fixating on dust bunnies, clutter and redecorating tasks? If you want to have a peaceful, stress-free recovery, you’ll need to rest during the first few days. Refrain from working, cleaning, lifting or any other strenuous activity. Try setting aside time weeks ahead to ensure major cleaning, laundry, organizing and furniture arranging are done.

Run Errands

You’ll want to load up anything you could run out of during the first two weeks. Can you go to the store after breast augmentation in Toronto? Sure, but you’ll be moving slowly and unable to lift much, so the inconvenience of flagging down a friend or service to help you can be avoided by stocking up. Shop for food, snacks, even juicy magazines or your favourite time-killers to make your staycation more enjoyable.

Get Comfy Clothes Ready

You’ll want to bring a button up or zip up top to the OR with you on your procedure day. Once home, lifting your arms over your head or fastening up anything constricting won’t feel great. Whatever you have that’s easy to put on and comfy to lounge in will be best.

Arrange Child & Pet Care

If you have an energetic dog who pulls the leash, you’ll want to hire a walker, and there are some restrictions for picking up children. Talk to your plastic surgeon about the specifics of what you can’t lift and for how long. Our patients find it very helpful to arrange help during the first two weeks.

Discontinue The Supplements

This is another one you can check with your surgeon, and they’ll let you know what’s permitted. Sometimes it’s easier to stop supplements and herbal formulas entirely for 2 weeks leading up to surgery. That’s because many of them, including Ginkgo biloba, Ginseng, Omega 3s, Garlic and St John’s wort will affect your ability to clot. Taking certain medications and supplements can lead to unwanted bruising or bleeding, so you must clear them with your plastic surgeon to ensure safety.

Elevate The Head Of The Bed

You’ll likely want to sleep a little propped up and reclined on your back rather than front or side. Raising the head and shoulders helps reduce swelling and discomfort, especially in the first week. You can lift the bed legs at the headboard, or place something under the mattress to boost it, but you must do this before surgery, not after. (If you forget, ask someone to help you, so you don’t strain yourself.)Lastly, never hesitate to contact your plastic surgeon’s office with questions. It can be overwhelming to plan for a procedure and the physical changes that come with it. There are answers for your questions and hearing them usually helps to put your mind at ease.
