Most women who undergo a mommy makeover in Toronto do so with the goal of getting their pre-baby figure back. The most common procedures performed as part of this “ makeover” are breast augmentation to rejuvenate the breasts, and a tummy tuck to slim the waistline.
Regardless of which options you choose, you’ll need to maintain a healthy lifestyle after surgery to preserve your results. It’s normal to be eager to get back to the gym, especially if you have a daily fitness routine to thank for shedding the baby weight. However, you may wonder how soon you can resume regular workouts.
Plan To Take Your Time
If you’re the type of person who dislikes the feeling of inactivity, you might feel compelled to get busy and active too soon. It’s essential to not only plan for patience and time off, but listen to your body and take it slowly as well.We don’t recommend that you rely on the testimonials of friends and other patients to tell you how soon you should be back to working out. That’s a discussion to have with your surgeon and to take at your own pace.
The First Two Weeks
After your mommy makeover in Toronto, the first week doesn’t require much more than rest. Aside from walking short distances bent slightly at the waist, you should be taking plenty of breaks to recline comfortably. While consistent leg movement is valuable to reduce the risk of blood clots in the first few days, it’s also common to feel fatigued and even a little dizzy, due to the anaesthetic. When you feel up to it, walk in the park or visit with friends but remember not to stand entirely straight or sit in a chair for long periods that first week. Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous arm use if you’ve had breast surgery. The good news is that the majority of your swelling, bruising and discomfort will all resolve within the first two weeks.
One Month After Mommy Makeover In Toronto
As you feel comfortable to, you may begin light cardio workouts after roughly three weeks if your surgeon approves. If you receive breast implants as part of your surgery, you won’t be allowed to lift anything above 10 lbs for six weeks. Activities designed to flex and strengthen the abdominal muscles will also need to wait until roughly six weeks, but you may begin walking, biking and light jogging beforehand.
Two Months After Your Surgery
As you enter your second-month post-op, you will likely be free to introduce weights to your routine, ease back into yoga poses, and just about anything you’d like. At this point, your incisions are well-healed and strong. However, that does not mean you won’t still feel a little discomfort or see some mild swelling. Everyone experiences the timing and details of healing a bit differently, so you might find you have to take it much slower and lighter than before. It could be several months before you’re able to work out as strenuously as you once did, but the wait will be well worth it.If you’re planning a mommy makeover, you’re invited to contact Edelstein Cosmetic to book your first consultation.
